More About Coach Alex
I have worked with athletes of all ages, from youth all the way to college. Most of my experience is at the high school level. I am a current high school varsity coach at Seton Hall Preparatory School. Prior to that I've also been a consultant for colleges as well as worked with college athletes. I have been training athletes actually since I was in high school. I started training youth kids back then and ever since then I've really enjoyed paving the way for the next generation of players.
I played lacrosse and football at Rutgers University, I also played football at Syracuse University. I was a 3 year starter in lacrosse at Rutgers. I was a three time academic all big ten selection. I won the Big Ten Specialist of the week award once. As a player I experienced a lot of success. I also experienced a lot of failure. I've been the guy who's killing it at the top of the world and I've been the last guy on the bench. I can relate to any player because of my experience. Sometimes you see a coach who's been super successful as a player and his player is struggling and it came so easy to him he may or may not know how to relate to the players failures. I've been on both sides. I get it, I know how to overcome adversity. I will not only be a great coach to you, but a mentor. You will not only be a better player but more prepared to handle anything that comes at you in life.
You should expect high energy and constructive session in which we build you a foundation and then refine the details. I like to start off with a good warm up to make sure we can go as hard as we can without injury. The best ability is availability. Then depending on your position I like to get into skill work that will depend on the athlete. So for example, if its a faceoff athlete we will work on their technique and work on eliminating little flaws in their game. If its a defender we will work on things such as approaches. It doesn't matter the position I am going to break each position down to the little details and we are going to get the most out of each session and the athlete. For midfielders what we would do is focus on our dodging and shooting. Are you cradling too much and wasting time on your shot and letting defenders get on you or goalies having more time to see your shot? I have a very technical approach that applies to any athlete regardless of athlete level. The skills that apply to the not as talented in the hands of the talented is great. Anyone can be successful, you just need to put in the work.
