More About Coach Alex
Extensive experience in individual and group lessons, cardio-intensive classes with both a focus on strategy and cardio. My tennis philosophy is structured around shot selection, footwork, and mental toughness - learn where to hit the ball, before you know how to hit the ball. Teaching experience includes California Tennis Club (CTC), Tiburon Peninsula Club (TPC), NJTL, YTA, and my own personal, AK47 Tennis Academy (still building)
I was a top ranked junior competitor ranked in the Top 10 in Northern California in every age category as well as a Top 200 Nationally ranked player for both singles and doubles. Most recently, I was a part of the University of San Francisco Division 1 Men's Tennis Team and played both singles and doubles. I am also a Maccabi Junior Olympic Games Champion from 2003-2005 (2 Gold, 3 Silver) and am expected to compete in the International Games for Maccabiah in the upcoming years in various countries. I'm awaiting to play for Team U.S.A in the 2022 Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv. Currently I am playing 5.0, 5.5, and Open level league for my tennis clubs as well as USTA, ITA, and Professional level tournaments. I frequently train with Open level and ATP Professional circuit players and incorporate my knowledge into my practice from their levels and experience of play.
1) Warm-up. This involves light running, foot-work, and stretching.
2) Brief overview of our session to come.
3) Stroke and body warm-up (on-court)
- Short court
- Full court
4) Based on my assessment of the new players game, I will instruct them to either drill more and work on a particular stroke or spin. For more advanced players, we can work on placement, spin, and shot strategy.
The lesson will cover majority of the strokes time permitting and incorporate feedback on every aspect of the game followed by a detailed plan of what is expected for next session.
