More About Coach Alexis
I have over seven years of experience coaching and training athletes across multiple levels, from youth to collegiate. I currently serve as the Head Women’s Varsity Volleyball Coach at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, where I lead program development, athlete conditioning, and skill progression for over 30 players across the freshman, JV, and varsity teams.
Previously, I coached at Washington Adventist University, where I was responsible for recruiting, player development, and match strategy at the collegiate level. I also run my own training business, Capers Coaching, through which I provide private lessons, clinics, and small-group sessions focused on fundamentals, position-specific development, and performance mindset training.
I typically work with athletes ages 12–22, helping them refine their technique, improve game IQ, and prepare for collegiate play. My approach emphasizes holistic development—technical, physical, and mental—tailored to each athlete’s goals and skill level.
In addition to my practical coaching experience, I hold USA Volleyball SafeSport certification and complete ongoing professional development in athlete wellness, leadership, and program management.
I was a collegiate volleyball player at Lafayette College, where I competed at the NCAA Division I level in the Patriot League. As a Starting Middle Blocker, I played in 87 of 94 sets during my freshman season, recording 96 total kills on 303 attempts and earning the team’s highest cumulative hitting percentage of .185. Defensively, I led the team with 10 solo blocks and 47 block assists, totaling 57 blocks and averaging 0.66 blocks per set—ranking among the top blockers in the conference.
Before and during college, I competed at the national club level with EC Power, based out of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, one of the top volleyball clubs in the region. My time with EC Power exposed me to elite competition and coaching, which strengthened my technical skill, quick-read ability, and court leadership.
Throughout my playing career, I earned recognition for leadership, defensive consistency, and impact at the net, serving as both a vocal and performance leader. My experience as a high-level collegiate middle blocker shaped my coaching philosophy—focused on discipline, preparation, and maximizing each athlete’s strengths to elevate team performance.
A client can expect a session that is focused, high-energy, and tailored to their individual goals. Each training session begins with a dynamic warm-up designed to improve mobility, coordination, and injury prevention, followed by technical drills that reinforce proper form and body mechanics.
I emphasize repetition with intention—helping athletes understand not just how to perform a skill, but why it matters in game situations. For example, I often focus on footwork, approach timing, blocking form, and transition speed for front-row players, and serve receive, defensive positioning, and platform control for back-row players. Sessions also include position-specific drills, such as quick-set execution for middles, out-of-system attacking for outsides, and serve placement and consistency work for all players.
Each athlete receives individual feedback throughout to build confidence and accountability. I like to end sessions with competitive, game-like scenarios that simulate real match pressure and decision-making. My goal is for every athlete to leave training feeling more technically sound, mentally sharper, and prepared to translate what they’ve learned into on-court performance.
