More About Coach Alexander
I bring 30 years of elite softball/baseball experience to the field, backed by a Master’s Degree in Athletic Coaching and Administration. My coaching spans all developmental levels, with a heavy emphasis on youth mechanics, high school varsity preparation, and advanced skill progression.
Most recently, I successfully head-coached youth fastpitch teams to back-to-back championship titles in the competitive Southern California youth circuits. My household is deeply rooted in elite softball; my wife played at the NCAA Division I level for California Baptist University, giving our family a direct understanding of modern collegiate recruiting, hitting sequencing, and the recruiting pathways young female athletes need to succeed.
I typically work with female athletes ranging from 8U beginners establishing foundational throwing and hitting mechanics, up to 18U high school players refining their bat speed, rotational power, and defensive footwork for travel ball exposure. Holding a Master’s degree in the field means every drill I run is rooted in proper sports science and biomechanics to maximize explosive power while protecting my athletes from injury.
I competed as an NCAA Division III collegiate baseball student-athlete at the University of La Verne, playing in the highly competitive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). Competing at the NCAA level allowed me to master elite hitting mechanics, defensive base-work systems, and advanced game strategy.
My collegiate playing background transitions directly into my extensive career as an elite high school varsity coach and athletic administrator across Southern California. I have served on the coaching staffs and athletic departments for premier, high-exposure baseball programs, including Etiwanda High School (a powerhouse in the Baseline League and CIF Southern Section), Dos Pueblos High School, and High Tech High.
Throughout my coaching career, I have successfully trained and developed multiple athletes who have moved on to compete at the NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA levels. My athletic accomplishments are heavily defined by my commitment to elite player development, utilizing my Master's Degree in Athletic Coaching to blend advanced sports biomechanics with real on-field results.
A typical 1-hour session is high-energy, tightly structured, and completely tailored to the athlete’s current skill level. Here is exactly how we maximize our 60 minutes on the field:
Minutes 0–10 (Dynamic Warm-Up & Arm Care): We begin with baseball/softball-specific dynamic stretching and progressive throwing drills to establish proper sequencing and ensure arm safety.
Minutes 10–25 (Defensive Footwork & Glove Work): Focus shifts to infield/outfield fundamentals. We run high-repetition hand-eye coordination drills, mastering proper approach angles, glove presentation, and clean transitions.
Minutes 25–55 (Rotational Power & Hitting Progression): We move to the plate. Using a progression of tee work, front-toss, and live batting practice, I analyze and tweak swing mechanics, bat path, and lower-body explosion to maximize power.
Minutes 55–60 (Cool Down & Goal Setting): We close with a rapid-fire review of the day's metrics, identifying specific adjustments the athlete needs to practice at home before our next session.
