More About Coach Alexander

I have experience with coaching academy teams from U10 to U17. I gained most of my experience at academies in Germany. Clubs I have worked at include TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, a Bundesliga club in Germany.

I grew up playing soccer in Germany, where I played in the youth Bundesliga and German national team. It’s the highest national level. In 2014 I started playing for Columbia University, where I was captain my Junior and Senior year. We won the Ivy League in 2016 and made an appearance in the national NCAA tournament, where we reached the second round.

I strongly believe that for kids there should be 3 main foci in practice. First, I’m focusing on working on basic technical abilities that are essential to bring your game to the next level. Another aspect that should be learned early on is Koordination. This includes working with both feet while also focusing on other stimulation like throwing balls at the same time. It’s important to train your awareness so you ask ow what’s going on around you when you’re on the ball. And the last most important aspect is fun. Soccer shouldn’t put kids under stress. They should enjoy it and that’s the only way they will become good soccer players. Soccer should be a passion not a chore.
