More About Coach Alen

30 years of boxing and striking experience. Coaching amateurs, inspiring pro's, young adults and even other coaches. For new students I typically form a structured format to introduce them to the fundamentals of boxing while incorporating elements of conditioning and technique development.

Open to all ages and groups, I love to work with those new to the sport and the sweet science!

Coach and Trainer in multiple disciplines and martial arts, WCS (Warfare Combat System Certification), USA Boxing Coaching, Comprehensive Street Self-Defense Certification; The Dutch Kickboxing Blueprint Certification. Having experience and sparring in boxing, tang soo-do and karate.

Warm-up:

Jump rope/Shadowboxing/Active Movement:
This helps improve footwork, coordination, and cardiovascular endurance.

Dynamic stretches:
Including movements like leg swings, arm circles, and torso twists to increase flexibility and reduce the risk of injury. Gradually elevating the heart rate and preparing the body for more intense activities.
Technical Instruction

Stance and footwork: Teaching the proper stance is crucial for balance and mobility.
Basic punches and kicks:Techniques such as jabs, crosses, hooks, roundhouse kicks, and front kicks.
Defensive maneuvers: Covering blocks, slips, and evasive footwork.
Skill Practice

Drill work:
Practice techniques in a controlled and supportive environment.

Pad work:
Using focus mitts or Thai pads for students to practice striking combinations and work on accuracy and power.

Striking Work:
Utilizing active striking techniques for practicing kicks and punches with resistance.
Cardiovascular Conditioning

High-intensity interval training (HIIT):
Incorporating short bursts of intense exercises like burpees, jumping jacks, or sprints to improve cardiovascular fitness.
Shadowboxing: Combining technique practice with continuous movement to enhance endurance.
Cool-down

Static stretches:
Focusing on muscles used during the session to improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension.

Breathing exercises:
Encouraging deep, controlled breaths to help the body recover and reduce heart rate.

Feedback and Q&A:

Providing constructive feedback on techniques and answering any questions from the students.
Discussing the importance of proper form, conditioning, and consistency in training.
