More About Coach Alexander

When my college career ended prematurely due to injuries, I was given an opportunity to become an assistant coach at Springfield College in Illinois(where I was leading a team in points and assists) and work individually with the team basketball players. Eventually, I moved to Los Angeles where I received my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and pursued graduate school while majoring in philosophy and sports psychology. I was extremely fortunate to work with Dr. Ken Ravizza who was among the leading sports psychologists in the country and a mental game coach to many major league baseball players. I worked individually with college basketball players while under his supervision. This experience taught me the importance of being a great listener and of respecting an athlete as a whole person and not just as a performer.
I was an assistant coach/Individual player development at Stoneridge Preparatory High School, Simi Valley, and was a player development coach for Miguel Contreras High School in downtown Los Angeles. I was coaching camps at Syracuse University, University of Illinois, and many others in the Los Angeles area, while cofacilitating children's basketball league and a club team for nonprofit organization KRS sports that were based in Sherman Oaks, CA. I have extensive experience working individually with athletes overseas and in the U.S.

I played for club teams in Serbia since he was 11 years old before coming to America. I attended the High School near Chicago and was selected all-conference, leading the league in scoring, and breaking the conference single-game record with 46 points. I had offers from the University of Illinois and DePaul University but had to redshirt for two consecutive years while primarily playing junior colleges in Illinois. I finally decided to go back to Europe and play professional basketball at Radnicki Belgrade-Serbia. I played for a year while averaging 17.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 5 assists per game, but had to end my career due to persistent injuries.

Individually tailored training sessions are based on athletes’ input and specific to their individual goals and/or the needs of their current/future teams. A careful study of film is used to accurately target what aspects of the game athletes want/need to improve, while also focusing on consistently executing basics, and maintaining or improving players’ strengths.
Strong emphasis will be on quality over quantity, smart decision-making, and injury prevention. I am flexible and adaptive to the unique personalities and specific affinities that come with different individuals. The goal is to allow athletes to express themselves freely and use their insights to frequently change/improve individual workouts.
Real game simulations are essential, and I take great pride to be in great shape and actively participate in these workouts as this is the best way to get the most out of every training session. Progress is observed throughout the year and evaluations are transparent and straightforward. More info on my website: https://thegreatperformance.com/

Client Reviews

Alexander is a terrific coach!

Great coach that is patient and pays attention to details. Has a unique beneficial way of working with me to find out what I am lacking at to improve my overall skills.

His communication skills, passion and knowledge really helped me improve my overall game, as his approach is multifaceted and truly tailored to not just your game, but to who you truly are as a person. He also sets up a truly collaborative environment where athletes opinions are really heard and respected. He is also tireless and adds that physical presence to motivate you to push yourself even more.
Alexander is an open-minded and versatile coach who is willing to step out of his comfort zone to continuously challenge and improve himself and his approach. He will be a great asset to whoever he works with.
Players are usually expected to listen and trust their coaches to show them the way. In his approach, Alexander is listening and trusting his players to find the way, where the essence of his coaching is proper support for the players' unique and constructive personal narrative.
My workouts with coach Alexander have improved every part of my game including ball-handling, shooting, quickness, speed, and mental toughness. His training prepares you for everything so there are no surprises once the game starts. I appreciated that he was always looking for my input and he has that special ability to understand you and change his approach to fit your tendencies and beliefs.
Alexander worked with athletes under my direct supervision. He was never quite satisfied and was always asking me questions about the mental aspects of performance and my personal experiences. His passion is to help others with coaching that is not intrusive and forceful, but rather adaptable to different personalities and their unique circumstances. I see this as the key to unlock the true potential on a much wider spectrum, and a significant reduction in a consistent number of athletes who fail to reach expectations.
Alexander has a unique approach that is raising the bar in individual player development.
Alexander possesses great knowledge and passion for the game of basketball. He can bring a much-needed fresh perspective to individual player development.
After my first workout with Alex, I knew he was going to help me. His workouts are intense, efficient, and tailored to what you need. But his communication skills and ability to relate and understand his players is what separates him. It’s just easy to talk to him.
