More About Coach Al

USA basketball certified coach! 2016 International Shooting Federation FT champion. Won the 1st annual 2015 Borgata Casino Free Throw Championship in March that had over 1,022 participants. In the final 8, I beat Dave Hopla who's considered one of the best shooters in the world. He's now the Detroit Pistons shooting coach. I have coached boys basketball from 7th grade through High School. As a coach I have worked at Holy Cross, Valley View, and Pocono Mountain East. They are all located in Northeastern, PA. I currently do private shooting and skills sessions with kids in grades 4 - 12. I live and teach elementary school in the Valley View School District which is located in Archbald, PA.

In high school at Bishop O'Hara I am the all time leading scorer with 1,986 points. I am the career leader in three pointers made and free throw percentage. I was an all state player my junior and senior seasons. During my Junior year we lost in the state championship game. I was a three time all star and 2 time lackawanna league player of the year. In college I attended the University of Scranton and started every game of my career. I was a 3 time conference all star. During my Sophomore year I led all of college basketball in 3pt % at 54%. I ended my career as the all time leader in 3 pointers made and three point/free throw percentage. After college I entered the last man standing one on one contest in NYC and lost in the quarterfinals. I was one of over 600 participants and got the privilege of playing at Madison Square Garden for making the final 16. In my first game I beat NYC playground legend Cory "homicide" Williams, but unfortunately lost in the next round. Lastly, I've been inducted into my high school and college "Wall of Fames".

I always start with form shooting (1 hand, and 2 hands). Shooting is all technique. After that we will do a variety of shooting drills that involve many different types of movement. We will shoot off the pass and dribble. I also like shooting in transition and off a variety of screens. So footwork is extremely important when shooting. Near the end of a workout I will involve passing and ball handling. I like to shoot off the dribble using 2 balls at times also. Here is my cell if you have any questions 570-650-9858.

Coach Al was wonderful! My daughter had a great session with him! ;)

Coach Al is a great coach. I would recommend him.

I feel like I learned more in one session than I did all year.

Coach Al was a excellent coach! The whole time he was supporting and made me feel comfortable from the start!

Coach Al has taught my son in two weeks what his school couldn't teach him in three years. Professional, friendly and made my son feel extremely comfortable. Most importantly, he has raised his confidence level through the roof. My son looks forward to his next sessions.
Thank you Coach Al. We look forward to working with you over the next few months.....and hopefully then some. Excellent coach. Highly recommend.

Coach AL is Super Fantastic. He is great with the kids. My boys are age 12 and 10 and they were a bit nervous when we told them that they were going to be taking private basketball lessons. They did not know what to expect, however after having just 2 lessons with Coach Al they feel more confident and relaxed about the basketball lessons. Coach Al take his time with the lessons, he explains every detail of the drill and show the drill to the boys. He is wonderful and the boys can't wait to continue to work with him. They see a difference in their skills and see themselves getting much better in the games. Coach Al is very thorough with the lessons and very detailed. We are very grateful to Al and his skills & capabilities. We would recommend him to anyone. We are definitely going to be referring people to the Coach Up site and providing them with Coach Al's name. This truly is a great site and idea providing training in the different sports to help athletes improve their skills. We feel like we hit the lottery with Coach AL. We will be booking additional training sessions and can't wait to see the results. COACH AL you are WONDERFUL & SUPER FANTASTIC. You Rock Coach. Thank you for your attention to details and you skills, the kids will learn a lot from you. Thank you a thousand time from the bottom of our hearts. Kimberly, Keith, Cj & Gabe.

Coach Al was quick to get started and communicated well with my daughter. She really liked his approach and has found his advice to be very helpful. She is very much looking forward to more sessions with Coach Al.
