More About Coach Akeem
I bring five years of coaching experience, building on my background as a former collegiate track and field athlete. I currently run my own track club, serve as a volunteer coach at the University of South Florida (USF), and also coach at the high school level. In addition, I hold a USATF coaching certification.
Yes, I competed at the collegiate level and ranked in the top 10 in my events, which included the long jump, triple jump, and sprints. In 2014, I also had the honor of competing at the Youth Olympics in China. Throughout my athletic career, I received several accolades, including Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the Year and Most Valuable Athlete. I also hold records both internationally and at my former schools.
A typical training session will primarily focus on building strength and speed, with an emphasis on making proper ground contact to effectively apply force and generate maximum velocity. We’ll work on how different muscle groups coordinate to produce optimal power, incorporating various sprints techniques and strength exercises. Overall, the session will be tailored to your individual intensity threshold, aiming to push your limits while maintaining proper form and technique.
