Aj Avant-Johnson

Current varsity baseball coach at St Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac MD as well as the head coach for the 13U Dig In travel team. I've been coaching for 8 plus years now and working with kids that range anywhere from tee-ball to collegiate athletes.

I was a 3-year varsity starter at Thomas S Wootton High School. In my time at Wootton, I played catcher, pitcher, and outfield. As well as a brief playing career as a pitcher at the junior college level.

A hitting session would start with a basic warm-up routine. Then we'd begin a general assessment of what areas of the swing need improvement, hip rotation, shoulder direction, barrel pat. From there we'd begin addressing these issues with various drills on the tee, side toss, and front toss. The last 15 minutes would end with overhand batting practice and a review of what was worked on during the lesson.
