More About Coach Abdon
My coaching experience began with coaching NFL athletes during my time as an Applied Sports Scientist at Micael Johnson Performance Center. Since then, I have coached in the private sector with age groups from 5 years to professional athletes at various performance centers including D1 Training and Kula Sports Performance. I have my Bachelor and Master Degrees in Kinesiology, as well as certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Exercise Physiologist.
As an athlete, I competed in track and field in Jamaica for 9 years before competing at the D1 Collegiate level at University of North Texas. My main events were 100m and 200m with my PR's being 10.64 and 21.55 respectively.
A typical workout session will always start with a dynamic warm up which includes raising core temperature, working on flexibility and mobility, and potentiation drills to get the body ready for the specific movement we're doing that day. From there we would go through coordination exercises, power and plyometric movements to aid in accomplishing their goal. Then we would go into teaching the mechanics of the skills or movement we're focusing on that day before applying it to specific sport related movements.
