Abby Converse

I have worked with high school and middle school athletes of all levels of ability through the Stanford sponsored summer camps of Beach and Indoor volleyball. Additionally, I have successfully put together practice plans for my teammates during “off-season” player lead practices. I have done the same for juniors players to keep them engaged and fostering confidence and love of the sport. Last, I am able to analyze film of players to create practice plans emphasizing correct form with high numbers of repetitions for all ages!

In college, my Stanford team made four consecutive appearances at the NCAA Division I beach volleyball national championships, serving as captain. In high school, I helped my Xavier College Preparatory varsity indoor and beach volleyball teams earn 3 state championships, serving as captain twice. I was honored as a Student Athlete of the year as a senior for my work on the court and the community.

When working with a new athlete, I like to go through a series of drills to both assess their skill level and find holes in their form, developing a practice plan from there. Once I get to know a player, I will institute different drills (around the world for developing shots in beach volleyball) or tools like hitting of a bench to isolate the player’s swing itself. My philosophy is a true breakdown of the skill and two live play challenges to exhibit the growth within the session.
