More About Coach Aaron

I have trained players and coached teams for the past 10 years in California, Finland, and Sweden. I have coached youth players ages 6-18 for various clubs, high school teams, and with individuals. I have worked as an assistant coach at the collegiate level, and have coached at Stahre International Academy in Stockholm, Sweden.
When working with individuals I specialize in technical development, basing my methods on the teachings of Bruno Redolfi of Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio. I have extensive training for physical development, working at the Sports Athletic Advancement for 4 years in Santa Cruz. I have certification for athletic development from Solvalla Idrottsinstitut in Helsinki, Finland, and work closely with a strength and conditioning coach here in the Bay Area. Finally, and most importantly, I worked with a sports psychology coach during my own career and I have developed specific strategies to develop a dominant mindset in soccer players.

I played soccer professionally in Finland for Grankulla IFK, at a professional academy in Stockholm, Sweden, at a professional academy in Perugia, Italy, and in college at UC Santa Cruz, CCSF, and Sonoma State. I played on the Regional ODP team as a youth player and for Bay Oaks Soccer club in Oakland and won NCSC at Berkeley High School in 2004.
I play out wide both on the left and the right, either from the fullback position, midfield, or as a winger. Because of my versatility and the cultivation of my left foot, I have often played out of position at center mid, center back, and as a striker. With this wide range of experience I have gained a deep understanding of the game and have developed a holistic vision of what is required of a soccer player physically, technically, and mentally to make it at the highest level.

I begin each session with a dynamic warm up, mixing in coordination elements to prime the athletes brain for motor control. We'll finish the warm up with a few sets of activation/injury prevention exercises and some quick footwork and/or sprint work. A soccer player's technique is fundamental to his or her success so all elements of training will be include the ball. We move from the warm up into technical exercises, focusing on the player's first touch using different surfaces to control the ball, dribbling at speed, and building coordination with the weaker foot. We will move on to passing and/or shooting, incorporating technically elements addressed prior. The difficulty level of the exercises will be determined but the athletes ability and will adjust training as the athlete progresses. We will conclude training with a active cool down, juggling for example, and finished up with some feedback and mental work.

Great coach. Good drills and techniques.

Coach Aaron was able to engage my 12 and 13 year old girls in a variety of exercises and drills that challenged them physically and mentally. They had fun, got a good workout, and learned new skills. I am excited to see them develop as soccer players as we continue to work with Coach Aaron.

Aaron is great especially with kids . Our kid is a rookie in soccer at the age of 8. We took him to Aaron to learn the fundamentals. We were quite apprehensive during the first session that our kid might not enjoy it . By the second session, our kid is more motivated and gained the confidence to continue on. We will sign up for more lessons and definitely recommend Aaron to whoever aspires more from this sport . Teresa and Carlos .
