I took an interest in boxing when I had to find another sport to supplement my heavy travel schedule and keep me healthy during this stressful time. I started boxing at that time and have continued my boxing passion and routine by training and working with boxing gyms in NYC and in New Jersey. I have had quality trainers and have modified my style based upon both boxing trainers in NY, NJ, and DC. My interest lies in being proficient in technique. I also understand that there are some that want exposure to boxing but don't want full contact. I'm flexible enough to teach you the sweet science in boxing and help you with strength and conditioning - all of which boxing will teach you.
After understanding your goals, my workouts initially start with having a solid foundation in boxing basics. These basics include foundations of boxing (footwork and body movement). My goal is for you to have correct body posture, basic aerobic endurance, and to develop some level of speed, coordination, and balance.
I know that losing weight and getting in shape will also be an added benefit. I can assure you that training each week and having healthy eating habits will show you the benefits you're looking for.
I am a USABoxing certified instructor and continue my boxing educational requirements each year.
Please note: If you don't have a facility near you (i.e. gym, workout area) I am able to meet you at your preferred location (i.e., apartment complex, local gym, Rec. Center). If not, please see the "Boxing Locations" for additional information.
I've been an athlete for as long as I remember. When it comes to boxing, I have trained at Supreme Team Boxing Gym in NYC, worked and trained with Makovoz Boxing (NYC/VA), and Aces Boxing (NJ) to name a few
First, I need to do an assessment of your overall knowledge of boxing and physical abilities. I want to know your goals and see how I may help you reach those goals.
If you're a beginner, or feel that you want to start from the beginning, I start going through your overall endurance, speed, and strength. I will start to customize your lessons based upon what you feel is attainable. I like to set objectives that are attainable to set you up for success. I want us to be on the same page for each training. By doing this, there will be areas we'll work on to improve bad habits and continue harnessing your strengths.
Once we get into full exercise mode, we will work on techniques that include offensive and defensive techniques. Once we're finished we will do some core work, cool- down exercises and stretching.
For those that have had some instruction before, I'll have you start off shadow boxing. We'll talk about how much training you've received before and we will figure out what you're comfortable with going forward.
After each training, I provide each of my clients with training work (some call it homework) to make sure each client is adequately prepared and moves forward each day. This helps solidify technique on the days where we are not training. This is especially fun for kids as well as it tends to bring the family together to workout.
