More About Coach Tricia

I have been giving pitching lessons for about six years now. I have worked with girls of ages eight through eighteen. Currently I am the varsity pitching coach for Jackson Milton High School, as well as giving private pitching lessons to younger athletes. I work with girls of all ages wanting to learn or improve their pitching skills.

I have been playing softball since I was five years old, and pitching since I was eleven years old. I pitched all through high school, and won a state championship my senior year. In high school, as a pitcher, I earned first team all MAC (4years), first team all region (3years), and first team all state (1year). I was also named MVP in the state game that I pitched. My ERA in the playoffs in 2008 was a 0. Overall the entire year is was a 0.333.
I continued my career through college and pitched three years at Shepherd University, taking my team to the Regional Finals my sophomore year. In college, as a pitcher, I earned first team all WVIAC (2years), second team all region, and honorable mention all-American. In college my ERA was under a 2.0 for all three years pitched.

A client can expect an energetic personality, with plenty of knowledge about pitching. I specialize in young girls that are beginners, but love working with girls looking to further improve their skills.
When working with a beginning pitcher, I start with showing them how to hold the ball. Then we move through each drill; wrist snaps, t-drill, l-drill, front drill, and full pitching. As we work through each drill I show it two-three times, and then stand next to the girl as they throw. I give feedback on what needs fixed and what is being done properly. I answer any questions that the girl or guardian has, and give explanations as to why and how each drill is incorporated into the pitch. With girls that have been pitching, I allow them to take me through their warm-up. I watch their style of pitching and make corrections based on mechanics; such as release point, snap, follow-through, etc. Once I have seen their style, I usually stop for a few minutes to discuss exactly what they are looking for and how much they want to improve or change their pitching. Based on their level, I also teach change-up, drop-curve, screw ball, rise ball, and curve ball.
