More About Coach Tommy
I have experience working with kids of all ages. I am from Denver, Colorado and played for the the youth club Real Colorado. Through this, we mentored and helped train kids of all ages, especially the kids who had aspirations of playing at the next level. I have no preference when it comes to age groups as I can help develop and train anyone who feels the need to bring their game to the next level.
I was a 4 year starter at West Point which is a Division 1 program after getting multiple scholarship offers from multiple schools which include: University of New Mexico, Oregon State, George Mason, University of Northern Illinois and a few other schools. I played semi-professional soccer for the Real Colorado Foxes during the summer months of college. I was also a high school All American for the state of Colorado and captained a high school team to its first state championship in 29 years in 2010. I was first team All State and All Conference in Colorado my senior year (2010). I played club soccer for Real Colorado's academy team which is known as an elite youth club throughout the country. I was also a member of the US National team when I was 14 and 15 years old.
The session will start with a proper warm up. Running and stretching followed by some light passing and ball drills/cone drills to get the feet warmed up. Then we will move on to what is desired to be accomplished for that day. If it is crossing for example, we will run drills that include running at a defender, beating him/her and hitting sweet spots in the box where most crosses are scored from. We will go over different techniques and also where to expect the people in the box to be to make your crossing more efficient and effective. If we were working on finishing, we would go over proper striking technique and then run several drills all around the box and in the box to simulate game like situations and striking from different areas of the field. We would then finish the session with a cool down and talk about what went well and what didn't go so well and where we can improve for next time and what to focus on next time.
