More About Coach Timothy

I have been coaching athletes from the professional level to middle school for the last 22 years in nearly every sport. I hold a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology, and also Leadership. I am a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), and a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS); the gold standard of the performance coaching industry.

I specialize in sports performance training for all sports.

I train football, hockey, baseball, basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, tactical, and MMA athletes, male and female, ages 12 and above.

I have worked for the Applied Science Performance Institute (ASPI), Western Michigan University Football, the US Army Special Operation Command (SOCOM), Missouri S&T University athletics, The University of Hawaii football, The Detroit Red Wings, The Toledo Walleye, The Detroit Drive, and numerous high schools.

In my coaching career I have been honored and privileged to have coached more than 60 athletes that have reached the professional level in 5 different sports; football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and MMA. I have coached countless athletes who have made it to the collegiate level from high school (FCS, D2, D3, NAIA), and who have gone on to participate in professional minor league, and semi-pro athletics but never made it to the top professional level; in addition, I have trained some of the most elite soldiers in the world. I grew up in a family that trained and coached athletes at all levels and have been exposed to the coaching lifestyle of many years.

I am owner of Dragon Sports Performance, LLC, a sports performance business I started when I retired from the US Army. Dragon Sports Performance trains athletes age 12 and older in nearly all sports. Dragon Sports Performance provides 1-on-1, and group training, in addition to camps and clinics, in the Tampa, Florida and Traverse City, Michigan areas.

In high school I played four sports, football, basketball, baseball, and hockey. I was newspaper All-County 2nd team my senior year in football, 1st team All-Region Hockey in 1995 travel league, and played two season on the Central Michigan University club hockey team; I was average in all other sports. I grew up in a coaching family and from an early age was exposed to coaching and athletics from age 10 years old.

There are two types of Sessions.

Speed & Agility Sessions: are for all athletes in ALL sports, male or female, age 12 and older. Sessions are 60 to 90 minutes, and are designed around the training level, age, and sport.

Sessions will begin with a warmup, then move into blocks of programming that will focus on technique, quick-feet, speed-strength, speed-power, and change of direction. Sessions will include the use of micro hurdles, mini hurdles, speed ladders, speed bands, mini bands, and cone drills.

Football Skill Position Sessions: are for athletes who play football and who play Running Back or Wide Receiver.
Sessions are 60 minutes and will work on the fundamentals, technique, foot-work, speed, and agility for each position. The training is designed to help young athletes develop the skills to be successful.

Athletes must bring their own water, towels, and come to training dressed appropriately for the training that will be completed.

When I met Tim I knew nothing about training or anything to do with weight training. After being coached by Tim for 12 weeks I was much comfortable in the weight room, I understood why I was doing the training I was doing and how it would help me, and I could see changes in my body and my ability to run faster and jump higher. Tim has helped me become stronger, faster, and more flexible and it has helped me very much as a cheerleader, and track athlete.
Tim helped me in my early years at Western Michigan University with my development in the weight room. He is very knowledgeable on performance training because of the great coaches he has learned from and his years of experience as a coach. He helped me through my hip issue that made me struggle with squatting and after a couple weeks I had no more issues and my hip felt amazing. Tim is a great teacher and a great man.
