More About Coach Timmy
I have been blessed with the experience of coaching players from 3 year old recreational league to high level college players. Every summer in college, I worked with a soccer camp organization where I coached kids ages 5-14 in different locations every week. The camps focused on learning fundamental technique and then how to apply that technique in game situations. I gained so much experience this way coaching the fundamental techniques of different moves, cuts, and turns; dribbling; passing; shooting; and heading which is the basis for soccer. Once or twice every summer we did camps with high school athletes where I was able to take the same soccer fundamentals and enhance them with older athletes. This experience was invaluable. I now am an assistant coach at a NCAA Division III college where I still teach fundamental techniques, but have also gained experience with defensive marking, formations, positioning, and many other different defensive and attacking drills and strategies. I would feel very comfortable coaching you whether you are a young kid looking to improve your skills or an elite athlete looking to enhance an aspect of your game.
I grew up in North Africa where my parents worked. I was one of the only Americans to play in the club soccer system they had over there and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was able to play for the Junior team through high school, and my 12th grade year, I was able to practice and play with the senior professional team which was a great experience. After I graduated, I played 4 years of varsity soccer at Cedarville University, a NCAA Division II university in Ohio. I played in 80 games, starting in 48 as I helped lead my team to a 57-22-8 overall record during my 4 years. Playing as a forward I scored 18 goals and recorded 16 assists and was able to be All-American my Junior year and NCAA Division II two-time Academic All-American my Junior and Senior year. I thoroughly enjoyed my playing career, and now I very much enjoy playing in indoor and outdoor men's leagues as much as I possibly can!
During my sessions, we are going to really focus on improving your technique in whatever area needs work. If you feel like a certain part of your game needs addressing, we will spend more time on it whether that is dribbling, shooting, crossing, heading, and so on. If however, you simply want to improve your game in general, I will walk through different drills with you, find your weaknesses, and focus on them.
A typical session will start with small footwork such as juggling or quick feet type drills as a warm-up. We would then progress to some sort of passing or dribbling drill depending on the day, and then end with a shooting/crossing/driven ball drill. Depending on the drill, I will either be demonstrating or actually doing the drill with you so you will get experience working with and against a good player during our sessions.
