More About Coach Tiffany
I have been playing volleyball for over 15 years and want to help younger players develop the skills to become a top player. I'm only 5'3", yet I was one of the top outside hitters in high school, so it's safe to say I know what it takes to overcome adversity and be the best.
I coached Junior Olympic 17U girls' volleyball for one season, but unfortunately had to stop because my work schedule was too demanding. However, I have a lot of knowledge and experience that can be shared, and private lessons are a perfect way for me to help your athlete and work around my schedule.
I work mainly with girls who have played volleyball for a bit and are looking to take their game to the next level. But I also work with beginners who want to learn the sport and start to learn fundamentals early.
I played for one of the top teams in Pennsylvania, Synergy Volleyball Club and Philadelphia Volleyball Academy. I traveled across the country, including Las Vegas, Chicago, Austin, Orlando, Kansas City, and Sacramento, to play against other top teams in the nation.
During my time as a player at Synergy and PVA, I learned from some of the best coaches and players throughout the world, working with coaches from Israel, Brazil, Bulgaria, Egypt, and, of course, the U.S. I attended volleyball camps every summer, including Penn State Women's Volleyball camp at Juniata College under head coach Russ Rose. All my hard work paid off when I was recruited to walk-on at Penn State University as Libero/defensive specialist. (In the end, I decided to go to NYU and pursue a career in sports television and continued playing volleyball recreationally.)
As I said in my Coaching Experience, I'm only 5'3", but that did not stop me from winning multiple awards in high school. I was 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Conference, and All-State Honorable Mention. I was also my team's MVP and voted by my team as the Player's Player.
My sessions begin with fundamentals. My 18U coach instilled fundamentals in us, even at a later age, because of the importance. Looking back at 11-year old me, I wish I would've spent more time on fundamentals than I did. Although it may seem repetitive, making sure players can pass and set properly is extremely important.
Depending on what position your athlete wants to play will depend on where we go from there. In general, I will work with your athlete on drills that will help increase speed, agility, and accuracy in the sport. If she is interested in learning more technical skills, such as positioning, footwork, and strategy, I will go over that too.
Finally, my session will end with either cool-down drills, or strength and conditioning that can also be done at home.
