More About Coach Thalu

Currently, I am a graduate assistant soccer coach at Nyack College an NCAA D2 affiliated college. My role is the director of goalkeepers on both the Men's and Women's soccer program; with a heavy impact on the recruiting process. Additionally, I have an opportunity to voice my opinion on the tactical element of the modern game. Prior to this role, I was an assistant coach for a women's varsity high school soccer program, preparing student-athletes for the collegiate level. I have coached from the u7 level all the way up to college on the women & men's sides. Recently having club coaching opportunities with 3 youth teams, in the u7 u10 and u15/16, with previous coaching stints in London, England and Kansas City, MO and here in New York. Additionally, I was an employee for i9 Franchise, a multi-sport business which operated on weekends (primarily Sundays) to cater to families which had other commitments during the week. During my time in Kansas City, I was able to make an influence in the community by offering private soccer sessions to those who wanted to get better with regards to soccer skills. I was able to offer goalkeeping opportunities as well as specific custom sessions for outfield players. To support my coaching experience, I am qualified as an FA Level 2 coach and USSF F licensed coach here in the USA; with the intention of growing in the coaching world by obtaining higher coaching badges in the US and in England. I am open to working with all age groups.

I have recently completed my collegiate career in 2018, playing four years as the starting goalkeeper at Park University in Kansas City, MO. Prior to moving to the USA, I was in the academy system in England. I was given various opportunities to lead many teams throughout my career as a captain. I was very thankful to be given such leadership opportunities, and confidence to grow as a voice on the field, through performance and character. I was also given goalkeeper of the conference and attained a high number of 'goalkeeper of the week' achievements throughout my collegiate career. In England, I participated in the London Youth Games, a borough-specific tournament which allows athletes to represent whether they are from. This tournament had various graduated who are now or were professionals in English football. Additionally, I was exposed to men's soccer at a young age, being chosen to start at the semi-pro level. I would also say being consistent in minutes played was a personal achievement as I was fortunate with injuries and cautious about the importance of keeping form throughout.

The important word in this question is 'client'. All of my clients will be allocated their own custom made sessions in order to reach their SMART goals. Although the focus is on their goals, it is important to dive into detail by being able to divide their goals from short, medium to long term goals as well as implementing components that highlight an athlete. To be more precise about the latter, physical components such as coordination and skill set drills will be primarily supported in my sessions with explanations as to why they are beneficial for that certain type of client. My ethos, emphasises sessions to be heavingly influenced by the focus, in this case, the soccer ball will only make a client better as this is what clients are working to improve. Being in the same environment as the client allowed a more personalised focus from me, with my undivided attention. This environment also enforces an opportunity for them to learn.
