More About Coach Stefan

I hold USSF "C" license and have been coaching/training for 7 years on a competitive level with travel teams.

From 2007 to 2010 I worked as trainer for "Stan Soccer Academy" in NJ for U- Boys, U-12 and U-14 Girls, as well as an assistant coach for semi-pro team "Strikers FC" S. Hackensack, NJ. Since 2012 I have been working for "Miami Shores FC" Florida as coach for U-12 Boys and U-11 Girls.

I also hold a coach/trainer license from Bulgarian Soccer School, recognized by UEFA.

As a former professional soccer player I have experience in the 1st and 2nd division in Bulgaria. I played for FC"Etar" V. Tarnovo in the Bulgarian top division for 5 seasons, champions of Bulgaria in 1990-1991, competed in Cup of European Champions in 1991 against "Kaiserslautern" FC. Winner of the Bulgarian Cup in 1995.

I was also called for U-21 Bulgarian national team. During my career as a youth and pro player I worked with a few great coaches who influenced my career and the way I played soccer. I learned a lot from them and I like to pass it on.

First session is always about assessment of the player. Based on how the player performs technically, I prepare a program/plan to improve his/her skills. After years of observation, in my opinion younger players-ages 6 to 8, 8 to 10 and 10 to 12, need to acquire ball skills, using booth feet for passing, dribbling and shooting. Aside from technical skills, young players will improve their agility and coordination. All that will be implemented in a plan based on player's needs. The Intermediate stage is designed for players ages 12-14 and focuses on introducing tactics- creating space by moving off the ball, principles of defending and attacking and etc. Working on improving technical skills is still the priority at this age. In the Advanced stage for players 15-18 years old, tactic becomes essential. All that was introduced to the players in the previous stage, now it will be at center of every practice how to move on the field, depending on where the ball is. By the age of 17-18 the youngsters should be completed players, ready to compete at the high level. Based on my assessment of the player, I will design a plan that will help him/her to develop/enhance their performance.
