More About Coach Sam

Growing up while playing soccer In high school, I started by coaching kids within my neighborhood. This progressed into helping host soccer camps every year at the University of Wake Forest coaching younger boys and girls. During my summers their I also was able to find local kids who were fans of the program and have 1 on 1 sessions with them in order to improve their overall technical ability and give them hope to some day play for Wake Forest.

During high school I was captain of the varsity team until I left to join the Colorado Rapids Academy system where I also continued captaining my teammates. I then attended Wake Forest, the number 1 program in the county, starting 93 games straight and leading the team to 1 national championship and a pair of elite 8 appearances. On top of the NCAA tournament success, we won 4 regular season championships and 2 ACC tournament Championships. Senior year I was elected captain where I eventually moved on to the professional level. I was a homegrown product for the Colorado Rapids, playing there for a year. My second year I played with Sporting Kansas City’s second team in the USL.

A typical session from me would depend very much on the needs of the client. After discussing their goals and areas of wanted improvement, I would put a personalized session together. Mainly focusing on technical aspects that involve touch improvement and passing technique, I would slowly build up to more complicated drills after gauging skill level. Drills that improve field awareness are also something that I emphasize but it all comes down to what the client wants to improve in.
