Depending on what the child or teenager would like to center their lesson on, I do that because I want the child's full attention and in order to have that it must be in the areas they feel they need to work on.
IF we are focusing on defense, we will start with a light warm up, some stretching exercises along with throwing mechanics. Defense will run for about an 1 hour. We will break down throwing, fielding and strategic defense skills. The goal of defense would be for the athlete to become comfortable in their mechanics along with situations that come with the game.
IF we are focusing on offense, we will still start with a light warm up, and stretches. Again depending on the level of the athlete we will most likely start out on tee work to get a basic understand of their swing. We then use drills that allow the athlete to focus on power, timing, placement and the ability to acknowledge what pitch is being thrown before they swing.
