More About Coach Salvation
I was a volunteer coach at Ada Christian Middle School - I coached the 7th and 8th-grade girls' soccer team to the semi-finals of the GRACEAC playoffs in the Spring of 2016. I have assisted my coaches in the past with setting up practices, especially when I played for Calvin College's JV team.
Played at Calvin College and Corona Secondary School.
Currently, I play for Cornerstone University and semi-professional team, BiH Grand Rapids FC.
Play as a Centre back, wing back, and defensive midfielder. Grew up playing as a goalkeeper till I was 11 and have coached goalkeepers before so minor experience there.
A typical session with me will depend on the number/position of athletes. However, if the session is a 1-on-1, we will:
- Begin with a 5-minute warm-up - dynamic and static stretches (no injuries allowed).
- Then, move on to a 10-minute agility/dynamic sequence of drills for warm-ups and to build some fitness.
- Then, move to simple passing sequence drills for 5-10 minutes (short passing and then pings).
- Then, I will start a specific drill focused on what the individual wants to improve on for 10-15 minutes (shooting, dribbling, goalkeeping [reflexes, command-of-area, shot-stopping], fitness, passing, ball-control, tactical positioning, etc.)
- Then, we will conclude the drill with a 15-minute small-sided game - which means 1-on-1 against me or if a group, a small-sided game.
- The last 5 minutes of our session will be spent on a recovery jog and then some static stretches (remember, no injuries!!!)
