More About Coach Richard

Over 25 years playing and coaching; coached boys and girls volleyball players ranging in age from 10 to 18 years old, Club Director at Bay Area Volleyball Club Club a club with over 180 players and a 30 coaches, Planned and ran clinics and workshops for up to 70 players, Coached teams at boys junior national tournament, Coached boys and girls high school at varsity level at Clayton Valley Charter & Las Lomas, Currently coach boys at De La Salle High School, Developed and coached sand doubles for program with over 40 players, extensive private lesson coaching for club players, high school, and middle school players. Several players have gone on to play collegiate level volleyball.

Athletic accomplishment include: Division I athlete (football and basketball) at the University of Maine, 3 Sport High School Athlete (football, basketball, baseball), All State Running and Defensive Back, Team Captain for football team, Won numerous sand and grass doubles tournaments a the A and AA level during my playing career.

I vary private lessons based on the players age, experience, and position. For younger less experienced players, I typically cover all skills passing, hitting, serving, and setting. For more experienced players, the drills vary based on position. The first lesson is typically a skills assessment where I can assess the areas for improvement: e.g. consistency of the contact point for outside hitters, blocking footwork for middle hitters, passing platform for liberos or defensive specialists. For all players, I typically incorporate a series of conditioning drills such as jump rope, resistance band work, lunges, etc. Many players have not established their own conditioning routines so this gives players something they can do on their own following the private lesson.

Richard is as awesome and patient coach! In just one session my daughter progressed so much. He didn't only provide the skills and focused on techniques, but gave positive feedback, tried different approaches, took time to listen to her needs, was flexible with our schedule. We'll definetely book another lesson.

Coach Richard was very personable and knows volleyball!!! Coach Richard is great!

Coach Rich's has improved my hitting, passing skills, and jump serving skills. He is an outstanding coach and I would recommend him to any player interested in improving their skills and building the confidence.
