More About Coach Ralph

15 years of coaching experience including college camps, club teams, club trainer, and individual sessions from ages 4 on up to the senior men's level in both USA and New Zealand.
I work with individuals, small groups, and teams. I really like working with teenagers because they have a burning desire to improve. The stakes become higher and I find this an exciting age range in which to coach. I have also worked a lot with 10-12 year olds and younger. I instilled in them a love to play. With the junior age group, I give them a head start by introducing skills that no one can take away from them.

First, I would ask the player what s/he would like to work on. This may include sharpening a strength and/or working on a weakness. After a warm up, which may include basic skills, challenging balls, agility work, etc. and/or stretching, we get to the targeted work. In this session, I focus on keeping tallies. This works as a motivator because the player is encouraged to perform the skill faster and/or more in a given amount of time. Of course, this is challenging to the player, but also fun and rewarding. The targeted work is challenged from a variety of angles and situations (left and right foot, if applicable). I may also introduce another topic in the session if I see fit and if the player desires. The session is finished with a warm down and a review.

Client Reviews

Coach Ralph was such a big help for my 9 year old son. In just 2 sessions his kicking form improved drastically and his confidence boosted immensely, which was exactly the reasons why I went to him in the first place. I can say that I would go back to coach Ralph if he wasn't moving back to his hometown in new Zealand (sad face). Coach Ralph was always on time and always kept in communication with me that to me was very important since we had a busy schedule. I would definitely recommend Coach Ralph to anyone who needs a motivator and a skilled Coach. Edith

Ralph did a great job coaching my daughter. She is fairly new to the sport and Ralph was very skilled at assessing her skill level and tailoring a coaching session accordingly. They worked on specific drills to improve her game significantly, focusing on both strengths and areas for improvement. As well, coach Ralph emailed me the drills and work outs she did and should continue to work on. I can say that both my daughter and I are both very pleased with her coaching session.

Well the fact that my son came home from his first training session and has hardly stopped doing the drills & techniques that Ralph taught him says it all! My son & I have alot of confidence in Ralph and he is a great communicator. We look forward to working more with Ralph (& referring him to others) in the future.

My son loved soccer practices with Ralph. Before, Kevin was not into soccer, but after a couple of practices with Ralph, he grew to love soccer very much. He was always exited every time he had a chance to practice with Ralph, and every time after practice, Kevin was sweaty and happy. Ralph knows how to capture child’s interest, and how to make kids to fall in love with this sport. While practicing with Ralph, Kevin became stronger and learned a lot of soccer tricks. Without a doubt, Ralph is a very talented soccer player and an excellent coach. If Ralph will ever move back in California, Kevin would love to practice soccer with him again.
Rarely am I given the opportunity to write a letter of recommendation for a coach for whom I have such regard. It is, therefore, with great pleasure and my enthusiastic support that I endorse Ralph, as both, an upstanding individual and a highly-talented soccer player coach. Ralph is one of those rare coaches who has been undeniably a principle factor for my son's increased confidence, as well as his enjoyment of the game. Ralph instruction, intensity, and encouragement has deepen my son's appreciation for soccer and the desire to excel in it.Therefore, without hesitation, Ralph receives my strong recommendation.
