More About Coach Raheem
I have experience training with some of the best young players that the United States has ever produced, training with the likes of Christian Pulisic, Weston Mckennie, Tyler Adams etc. I have experience volunteer coaching at youth levels at YSC sports, while training and playing as a player at the Philadelphia Union Academy. I typically work with ages 10-16 years of age.
I played for the Philadelphia Union Academy, moving up to Bethlehem Steel FC, the Philadelphia Union's USL Championship affiliate, becoming the first academy player to feature in a match with them. I attended the United States U-17 Residency Program in 2015, training with many young pros currently playing in the German Bundesliga, MLS, USL Championship, and Division I College Soccer. I have also represented Canada in the U-14-U-17 age groups. I have spent two years as a player at the University of Virginia. I finished my collegiate career at Oregon State University.
I like when my players tell me specifically what they would like to improve on in their game, but I put a strong emphasis on training and maintaining a high level of technical ability and ball retention skills. A typical session would consist of warming up with the ball, technical drills that keep players comfortable with the ball, speed and agility technique, shooting technique, and putting all these things together in becoming the complete player. I do not want to just train players on the field, but also after sessions going over why we are doing these things, areas that can be improved, and showing players what is needed to make it to the next level in their game. Most of all, I want my sessions to be fun, because at the end of the day, soccer should always be played with joy and passion.
