More About Coach Philip

Former Assistant Coach with UCLA Men's Soccer team. Interim Head Coach UCLA Men’s soccer March 2019 through May 2019. I am a former professional soccer player. I was drafted in the 1st round of the 2007 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft by the New England Revolution. I also played in the United Soccer League with Miami FC and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. I also served as the Head Coach of the Brentwood School JV Men's soccer team. I coach club soccer with Breakers FC where I have a specific emphasis in working with the skills academy and developing our young players.

In College I was a 4 year starter for Clemson University Soccer team. While at Clemson I was a 2005 and 2006 All-American, All-South Region, and All-ACC selection. Through my dedication and commitment to training I was also fortunate to be named an NSCA Strength and Conditioning All-American.

In High School I was the starting Goal Keeper for the US U-17 National Team that place 5th in the 2003 World Championships. I was a 2 year member of US Soccer's Residency Program. I also was a Parade High School All-American and McDonalds High School All-American selection.

As a player that has reached The highest levels in US Soccer I can not express how important it is for young players to receive 1 on 1 training and instruction. I utilize the same practice principles and training programs that helped me achieve a tremendous amount of success.

Every player has different needs depending on their strengths and weaknesses. I will Identify what type of training you will need to become a better player and taylor the training session specifically for  you. If you have an ultimate goal of playing soccer in college and beyond we will map out a multi-year training program to help you achieve your goals.

Most sessions will include a dynamic warm up, speed, agility, and plyometric conditioning, technical work with the ball, passing, striking and finishing drills, and we will finish with aerobic conditioning, core work and a proper cool down.

For Goal Keepers the sessions will include a dynamic warm up, speed, agility, and plyometric conditioning, GK technical work, handling, shot stopping, breakaways, dealing with crosses, proper footwork, distribution, and we will finish with anaerobic GK specific conditioning, core work and a proper cool down.

I enjoy working with young athletes and helping them achieve their goals. Just practicing while with your team is not enough if you want want to excel and become a better player. I have the knowledge and understanding of what it takes to play at a high level and I would enjoy the opportunity to share my knowledge with you.

Phil is a great coach! Really knows what he's doing and improves on all your weaknesses.

Good Coach

Saw immediate improvement in my daughter's handling of the ball. Coach Phillip has a variety of for building skills so the student does not appear bored and is also well-challenged.

I can see that coach Philip has had real professional training which is what my son needs to achieve his goals. His experience playing top quality soccer and his dedication to the sport is reflected in his coaching. Coach Philip was very energetic and provided a thorough practice working on my son's first touch and ball skills.

We were very impressed from the start. Coach Phil was professional and well prepared. He gave constructive feedback at the end of the session and our son told us his experience was excellent. Awesome Coach!

Philip has, and continues, to help my son improve his goal keeping techniques. His focus on the physical training has been instrumental in building confidence, and helping understand the importance it plays in the goalie position. Philip is able to access his strengths and weaknesses to ensure the ultimate training session. Communication is key, Philip has built a trust, and he looks forward to each training session. We will continue to train with Philip, and highly recommend him to parents looking for a coach to take them to the next level of performance.

My husband was very impressed. My son loves him.
