More About Coach Papa
My name is Papa Ndoye. I’m 25 years old and I’m from Senegal. I’m a professional soccer player. I’ve been coaching since 2019. My goal is any level the player brings i try to help them improve that. I came from a modest family in Senegal where everyone play football. At an early age, my family realized that i have a especial talent for football. i remember when i was like 5 or something like we all use to play in front of the house me, my dad and my brothers and they were able to see how good i was even at an early age. And i remember way before i was 13 like between 8 to 10 my older brother asking my dad when are you going to bring Papa to “Diambars” one of the biggest academic in Africa at that time that was located in Saly Senegal. But i was still very young to do the tryouts because you have to be 13 to be able to be eligible for the tryouts.
My dad who were a big football lover played pro in Senegal started a small club for kids from my neighborhood and around where i was playing and i remember i scored the first goal of the club. My father was my coach and my progression was going on a fast pace. We had an annual contest where they tested the kids under 13 in the whole region for technical training, and see who’s the best player. I won that trophy 2 years consecutive before eventually join the Academy Diambars. At 13 I left my family and join the Academy.

But in 3rd year in the Academy that’s when my whole mentality changed: “I said to myself everyone here is the same nobody has their parents here, we have the coaches, the teaches and the personnel who works here and these people are our family you need to man up”. And so i did i think that year i was 16 i finished that season really well scored 19 goals the most in my team. And the following year i did very too and the one following that’s when i really blow up scoring 31 goals in 33 games playing with the second team at 18 and the next year they signed me with the first team. I played pro there 2 years and did very well but the money in Senegal was not good so i wanted to go overseas.
I eventually had two offer after which going to play pro in French or going to college in the US 🇺🇸. I knew that my dad kinda wanted me to go to the US and get an good education and have a degree for the future and i wanted that for myself too that’s why didn’t choose to go play pro right away. So, i went to Long Island University in New York, play there the fall season and was named rookie of the year, all conference all region and all rookie first team.
