More About Coach Oscar
I have over 10 years of experience coaching either in Spain and the United States. I hold the Level 1 of coaching from Spain. During the years, I have worked with every group age possible. As of today, I am the Director of Soccer Operations of Men’s Soccer at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT, which is a NCAA DI program. Also, I helped Fairfield Prep High School to have one of the most successful years ever in 2021. Finally, I coach the U-12 Premier Boys and the U-11 Boys at Fairfield United Soccer Association. What I get from these experiences is that I’m able to work with every type of player and get the best out of them.
Throughout my whole life, I played for Mostoles URJC which is my hometown club in Spain. I started when I was seven years old and did not leave until I was 21. At seventeen, I became the youngest player ever to play for the First Team which at that moment played in the 5th tier in Spain. Right after turning 18, I was a huge part of the team that got the first promotion ever to Third Division (4th Tier). After that, I played the next two seasons at the Semi Pro level getting over 50 appearances. In 2016, I decided to move to Sacred Heart University (NCAA DI) to keep playing soccer while getting my degree. At Sacred Heart, I became the captain during my Freshman Year and also, we made the NEC Playoffs while making it to the ALL-NEC Rookie Team. During my Senior Year, I also made the All Conference Second Team. During my three years at SHU, I recorded 5 goals and 10 assists.
Overall, my sessions are very dynamic, very technique based and very specific. Before you start working with me, we will set up realistic goals that you want me to help you achieve. Once you tell me those goals, I am going to give you my best to help you get there. If you want me to work with a younger player, we will work a lot on technical exercises, speed and agility, and coordination. At that age, touching the ball as many times as you can is what matters the most. As players get older, I like to keep doing the same but adding the tactical part of the game. If my client already has set positions, I like to work specifically the characteristics that a player in those positions should have while helping to understand the game better.
