More About Coach Olaf

I coached a U15 boys premier team, helped run technical training sessions for players ages 8-20, and helped run evaluations for Lakeville Soccer club from ages 8-18. I have also served as a two-year varsity captain for Lakeville North high school and a one-year captain for St. Olaf college.
I have spent most of my coaching career working at my home clubs Lakeville Soccer Club and St. Olaf College men’s varsity. During that time I have coached men and women in-house to premier youth players and run training sessions for collegiate athletes.
As a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a nationally registered emergency medical technician, I am trained to address any medical considerations associated with training.

I competed and eventually captained the varsity Lakeville North high school men's team from 2012-2016 and the varsity St.Olaf men's soccer team from 2017-2019. My athletic accomplishments include:
Lakeville North High School
Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association "Mr. Soccer" finalist (2016)
Pioneers Press East Metro Player of the Year finalist (2016)
Star Tribune All-Metro Team (2016)
Minnesota All-State First team (2016)
Captain varsity team (2015-16)
St. Olaf College
One-year captain (2018-19)

A client can expect a well-prepared and customized training session that addresses whatever elements of their game that they want to improve. Sessions typically involve a short warm-up followed by technical skills with the soccer ball (dribbling, traps, and agility). Then, depending on the player's goals and position we will work on finishing on the net or defensive tackling technique.

My approach is to start with basic techniques and then progress to customized drills that mimic game-like scenarios. For example, if someone wanted to learn how to offensively challenge a defender, I would start with techniques for gaining control of the ball, quick body-fakes, and accelerating mechanics. Then once those become more natural I will add imaginary cone defenders and then end with myself providing light defensive pressure.
