More About Coach Nathan
I have trained goalkeepers from young children playing for the first time to seasoned professionals at the top of their game and everywhere in between. I have coached in many recreational camps where the focus is fun, various clubs in the South Sound area developing club level keepers, 6 years of college coaching at The Evergreen State College, and at the professional level with the Kitsap Pumas for two years.
I also have 2 years of head coaching experience on semi-pro indoor teams and 1 year coaching at South Puget Sound CC.
I received my BA from Evergreen State for Health and Human development and am a certified strength and conditioning specialist through NSCA.
I have played professionally as both an indoor and outdoor keeper, domestically and internationally.
I played at SPSCC, leading the team as MVP and captain to our first ever playoff birth and best finish is history finishing as runners up in the finals. I transferred to Evergreen State where I was conference keeper of the year and captain my senior year.
After college I played for various teams in the Northwest including FK Pacific Kitsap Pumas, and Tacoma Stars.
In 2012 I was drafted and played for the Milwaukee Wave.
From 2015-17 I lived and played in Bolivia for
Oriente Petrolero, San Jose, and Real Santa Cruz
I always try to introduce my goalkeepers to fresh and new excercises and concepts while assuring that we are also reinforcing previous techniques that we've covered.
I make sure to blend these techniques with a wide variety of physical actions that are necessary to become an elite keeper(short plyometric, long plyometric, reflexes, balance, strength, etc.) I like to keep a fast pace in my sessions to ensure many reps and improve fitness. While I do break down specific techniques at times I'm a big proponent of learning by trial and error and give my goalkeepers plenty of opportunities to practice what we are focused on. I am always open to adjusting a session to meet a goalkeepers specific needs or desires.
