More About Coach Minna
I have been coaching children between ages 6-20 for the past 10 years. I coach small groups, teams as well as individual lessons. I excel at perfecting athletes' technical abilities but I also put an importance on overall physical fitness. I hold a USSF E-license.
Former professional soccer player - played 10 years for Finnish Women's National Soccer Team (67 caps). Achieved third place in European Cup in 2005 (England). Positions: Forward and Midfield.
Former New York Power soccer player - Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) in 2002.
One time National Championship for Franklin Pierce College, 2001 -- two-time All American, scored 70 goals and 31 assists in 3 years.
International experience from Sweden and Finland
When meeting an athlete and parents for the first time I like to get a thorough understanding of the athlete's goals for the training. Once I have an understanding of the athlete's baseline ability, I can develop a program which helps close the gap between where they are today and what they should work on to reach their athletic goals. A typical hour-long individual session from warm-up to cool-down will involve the athlete maneuvering the ball and perfecting the fundamentals of footwork with high intensity. We will specialize in dribbling, shooting techniques, agility and basic defense/offense tactics. Depending on age and maturity, we can develop a program together which allows the athlete to reach the next level at his or her pace.
After a session is through, I encourage the athlete and parents to be committed all week long with practice assignments to be completed before the next session.
