More About Coach Mike

I have been coaching snowboarding for 15 years. I started teaching at Wintergreen Resort while I was still in high school. In 2003, I received my American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) Level 1 certification. In 2004, I was a junior coach for the Wintergreen Freeride team. After getting a “ real” job and starting a family, I went back to receive my AASI level two in 2013 and later receiving my AASI freestyle specialist one. I am currently the Head Coach for the Wintergreen Freeride Team.

Mike is an awesome instructor to work with no matter what ability level you're at. He is very effective at quickly gauging a person's current ability, taking into account his or her goals, and specifically tailoring the lesson accordingly. Plus, his passion and enthusiasm for the sport is very evident and will keep things interesting no matter what. I've only been riding for three seasons now, and I've been taking lessons with Mike throughout that time. Thanks to him, I've been able to progress from an awkward novice to a solid intermediate boarder, now riding black diamonds and most terrain park features.
