More About Coach Michelle
Played Varsity lacrosse for all 4 years in high school (Position: Center, so I am well rounded in both defense and offense), played club lacrosse through out college at Salisbury University. The past two years I have continued to play during the winter for a rec league.
I have coached Varsity field hockey at a high school in Maryland for 3 years, and coached Varsity girl's lacrosse for the past two years. In addition to coaching at the high school level, I was also involved in the 'Rebels' travel lacrosse team, where I coached girl's between 5th-8th grade, so I have experience coaching at the middle and high school level.
A typical session would consist of a 10 minute body warm-up including dynamic stretching and footwork drills. All drills would be explained so that the player knows how to properly execute and knows WHY they are doing that particular drill (so they most importantly know how it connects to lacrosse). Then the player will have a 10-15 minute stick warm up where the very fundamental aspects of stickwork will be covered. The remainder of the session will focus on two or three set skills depending on the time needed. The focus will be on creating concrete fundamental skills, depending on the players current level. Forming good habits is crucial to all players as they are much harder to fix later in their "lacrosse career". I stress to all players, regardless of age, that what they put into lacrosse is what they will get out of it. It is crucial that the player practices outside of sessions so that they can get the repetitions and practice in on their own.
