More About Coach Michael
I have been coaching at the college level since 2010 in Brownwood, Texas and Dallas, Texas. I am currently coaching at the club level to expand my coaching experience. As a former player up until 2008, where i experienced a FORTUNATE car accident which left me paralyzed a little above the waist down. I was forced to than start my coaching career at the young age of 17. I was a Volunteer Asst. at my HS Mesquite Poteet where we were a state finalist in 2009. Served as a student asst., and later asst. at Howard Payne University. I most recently served as an asst. at Paul Quinn College for the inaugural season. As a former player/coach having the experience of playing abroad and coaching at the college level, I'm capable of adapting my sessions to fit the specific skill level of the client. I have worked with age groups 7 all the way up to the college and professional level.
Varsity Letterman at high school level, who helped captain the 2008 Mesquite Poteet team to the regional final. Receiving District MVP, Senior Showcase Participant, and 2nd Team All-State. After graduation i had the opportunity to play in Argentina and Mexico before the summer of my freshmen year of College at Howard Payne University. Due to my accident I began to focus my attention on my passion for the game and began coaching shortly after I gained my confidence back.
Each individual will be given a goal sheet for both short and long term goals. I will be coaching in the Growth Mindset and with high intensity.
The first session will be an evaluation, which will allow me to identify specific needs for the individual in order to make the most out of the goals set moving forward. (If there are specific areas of improvement you know you would like to focus on beforehand, communicate that with me and I can design sessions accordingly.
We will begin with a good warmup including stretching, getting loose, and getting the heart rate going. Move into a ball warmup to get touches and comfortable with the ball. Depending on each individuals needs we will move into drills accordingly.
We will end every session with some type of conditioning and core work as I am gearing athletes towards the mindset of training towards being a college athlete or more.
I also like to train in sand or near hills to increase strength, speed, and overall mental toughness.
