Meggie Dougherty Howard

I have my US Soccer C License and have been coaching for years throughout my career. As a current professional player I have done individual training for players of all ages, from young elementary school kids to high schoolers, modeling my training sessions based on the work I do myself as a player. I have also made appearances to different teams, leading a training session or part of a practice. In addition I have coached in camps and clinics.

I am currently a professional soccer player in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) playing for the Orlando Pride. I have played in the NWSL for 6 seasons, playing for the Washington Spirit for four years and for Orlando for two. Prior to being drafted to Washington I attended the University of Florida. I was a four year starter with the Gators where our team won two SEC championships, two SEC tournaments, and appeared in the NCAA tournament all four years, reaching the elite 8 twice. During my time at Florida I was named to the All-SEC team and SEC tournament team twice, named SEC tournament MVP, and was an All-American and Academic All-American.

As a player, I have put in countless hours of individual training on my own, so I have a lot of experience in creating sessions that are suited to each individual player’s needs. I like to get a sense of what areas of his/her game a player wants to work on and then build the session around that information. I have experience playing all over the field, from forward to midfield to defense, which allows me to train whatever a players needs may be. As a technical player myself, I think getting lots of touches on the ball is crucial, so my sessions ensure players are getting the reps and touches they need.
