More About Coach Marshall

I have experience coaching young men and women from the ages of 3-18. I was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2016 MLS draft and have always had a strong desire to share my experience with younger players who are determined to grow. Due to my personal experience I have had the privilege of leading numerous soccer camps, appearances, and individual sessions with youth soccer players. I'm extremely passionate about providing a safe place for younger players to discover their confidence and use their work ethic towards becoming the best possible athlete/person as possible.

I have been playing the sport of soccer since the age of 4 and have been extremely humbled by the recognition I have received. During my youth I was part of the Regional ODP (Olympic Development Program), State runner-up on 4 occasions. During high school I received All-state recognition 2 times and was a 2011 Illinois State runner-up. I was also part of the Chicago Fire U-18 Academy team. During college I was a 3 time All-American, National Mid-fielder of the year, and a 2014 National Champion Runner-up at Wheaton College. I was drafted 41st overall in the 2016 MLS draft to the Columbus Crew where I earned a roster spot for 2 seasons before receiving my 6th knee surgery that ultimately ended my career.

My sessions will always begin with a dynamic warm-up to prepare the mind and body for focused work. After the warm-up I will move into a technical session where we will work on the basics that ultimately determine a soccer players ability. From there we will move into a more mentally focused exercise that increases the athletes self/game awareness on the pitch. Competition is vital, so I will frequently have a challenge planned for the athlete that is both difficult and fun. From there we will move into a few endurance exercises that requires the athlete to push their engine. To finish I will have a few options of more lighthearted/enjoyable games that the athlete can choose from as a reward for the hard work put in throughout the session.
