More About Coach Mark

Whilst playing full time soccer in England, I coached individuals of all ages and abilities, usually with a focus on getting a player ready and up to speed for the professional youth systems. Alongside this I coached in summer/winter camps.

Whilst playing full time soccer in Belgium, I worked 1x1 with players who were already in the professional system. Focusing on small specific areas of their game that was their main opportunity for them to really work on. This was anything from weaker foot to sports psychology. [Note: Throughout my career I worked with 2 world class psychologists. One works individually with players who are currently playing in the English Premier League and the other was part of the background staff when Germany last won the World Cup.]

Since being in America, I have coached players of all ages and abilities. From doing online programing for youngsters who are not ready for club soccer yet to All American High Schoolers getting ready for college soccer. Alongside the individual sessions, I also coached [Fall 2018] one of the most recognized High School soccer programs in North Carolina.

I am currently the Assistant Coach at John Brown University. Working alongside the Head Coach to create a winning culture collectivity as well as preparing the individual playing for pro soccer.

2012-2013 Semi Professional Soccer player in England. Was given 'Man of the match' on my debut. Was the youngest player playing in the league. Fifth tier. Was scouted to play overseas after one season.

2013-2014 Professional soccer player in Belgium. Second tier.

2014-2017 D1 college soccer player for one of the best teams in the nation. Made the second round of the National tournament, three times. Had opportunities to go pro post graduation.

Each session will be specific toward the goals we are working towards. My personal goal for each session is to use my playing experience as well as the knowledge from coaches, psychologists, strength and conditioning coaches, world class players, etc to give each individual ideas to take into their own sessions, team practices, as well as games to make them not just better soccer players but also better competitors.

Better people make better soccer players.

Client Reviews

Can't say enough good things about Coach Mark. My son Tai (15) was coming back from an injury and needed to shake the rust off and also maintain general conditioning during the holidays.
From Mark's professional playing and coaching background he understood well what was required and dialed in appropriate training sessions on short notice.
Tai felt he got exactly what was needed at the time.
Mark responds promptly to all communications and is very flexible in regards to scheduling and location.
He's easy to talk to and work with.

Mark is an absolutely outstanding one-on-one soccer coach. For the past year, he coached my 11-year old son, Wil, before accepting his first college soccer coaching assignment. Mark will be sorely missed here in Charlotte! Under Mark’s watch, Wil significantly improved his technical and ball mastery skills, explosive speed and agility, and mentality. Before beginning his work with Wil, Mark peppered me and, perhaps most importantly, Wil, with questions about what Wil would like to improve and get out of their sessions together. After a few weeks of one-on-one sessions, Mark attended one of Wil’s club games (at no charge) to see him in action, observe, and take notes. He did this again after another couple months, to track Wil’s progression. Having played professionally and being a voracious and open learner, Mark has a deep grasp on all aspects of what it takes to develop as a player: physical, technical, tactical, and mental. He is also a student of how to help others learn, including listening to them, meeting them where they are, and offering support, motivation, and high quality feedback in a positive and encouraging manner (the *positive* part was huge for Wil). We have worked with several other wonderful one-on-one coaches to help Wil develop individually outside of travel team practices, and while all had great expertise in one area or another, none of them tied everything together the way Mark did. Mark will likely not be your lowest-cost option, but in our experience he more than delivers in terms of value for money – once Wil started working with him, we didn’t want to look anywhere else. In addition to his competence, Mark’s character – from punctuality, to communication, fees/billing and overall friendliness and integrity – is excellent. He was a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Mark Sloan as a one-on-one soccer coach.
I had the pleasure of playing alongside Mark Sloan as full time professionals in Europe (Belgium) during season 2012/2013. Arriving in the country I knew of Mark due to his reputation as a player in England and had seen him play live, and on TV. My respect for him grew beyond measure whilst enjoying a period as his team mate and room mate. Not only was Sloan an incredibly gifted, talented and rounded footballer but his work ethic, team consciousness and attention to progressive detail was unmatched by any team mate I encountered across my own varied career. Mark took individual sessions with other players and led training sessions that set a standard like no other I have ever experienced in professional football. As someone with a playing career that included playing alongside/being coached by former Premier League and International footballers, Mark is the right coach for any player or team looking to develop new goals and achieve new standards on and off the pitch to become better tomorrow than they are today.
