More About Coach Mark
As an athletics coach, I have coached several sports from the youth to collegiate level. The sports I have coached include: Little League Baseball, Youth Soccer, Youth Hockey, Youth Football, and I have coached Lacrosse at the youth, high school, and collegiate club levels. I served as a certified Coach Trainer for USA Lacrosse between 2015 and 2020 and trained over 1500 coaches through their Coach Development Program. I am a Certified Level 2 Coach with USA Lacrosse, Certified Level C Coach with USA Baseball, Certified Level 2 NFHS Coach, and I have also achieved my Accredited Interscholastic Coach Certification through the NFHS as well.
As an athlete mental performance coach I earned my Masters in Sports & Exercise Psychology through The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and received my Certified Sports Psychology Coach certification through Spencer Academy/NESTA. Since 2018 I have served as an Athlete Mental Performance Coach for Zen Game, GameOn! App, and Wellavi. In this role I have assisted athletes and teams from the high school through semi-professional level overcome issues related to the mental side of the game such as: stress, anxiety, overwhelm, motivation, focus, goal setting and achievement, emotional regulation, confidence, positive self-talk, injury recovery, and other issues impacting their performance on the field or court. I work with athletes from across all sports, be they individual like wrestling, golf, or tennis; or team sports like lacrosse, football, baseball, and others.
My athletic journey was pre-dominantly based in the sport of ice hockey. I played hockey from the time that I was 6 years old through high school. I started off playing in a house league, before moving up into the travel hockey ranks. I was being recruited to play Junior Hockey for the then Detroit Vipers when tragedy struck. During a game during my Senior year in high school, I was checked awkwardly into the boards and suffered severe damage to my knee. My playing days were over.
When one door closes, another opens. Seeing how distraught I was at losing the opportunity to play, my coach asked if I would be willing to serve as a bench coach to help regulate line changes and boost morale of the players. I was honored to serve in this way and this is when my passion to coach began. Some of my greatest athletic accomplishments have not come as a player, but as a coach and this is what I am the most proud of. I have had players that I have worked with go on to win individual state and tournament championships, like in wrestling and as part of a team in sports like lacrosse. I have also coached athletes that have gone on to receive D1 scholarships.
My greatest athletic accomplishment though was in 2020, when I completed a solo bicycle ride over 3,500 miles across the United States from San Francisco, CA to Yorktown, VA. This experience was a test of my mental, physical, and spiritual resiliency and ability to overcome numerous challenges and adversities.

Mark's guidance as an athlete mental performance coach helped my son overcome issues of anxiety, focus, emotional regulation, confidence, and most importantly his mindset going into his wrestling matches.
