More About Coach Luka
I have been a goalkeeper since the age of 10 and have had some of the best goalkeeper coaches from Europe throughout my career. I continuously updated their drills to be innovative and creative. The club I trained with produced some of the finest goalkeepers, including one that is a starting goalkeeper in the semifinals of UEFA Champions League this year. I have coached children of all ages. I was the Head goalkeeper coach for Morton Blaze Soccer Club in 2011-2012 and for the Vermont Premium Soccer Club in 2015. Recently I was approached by Pittsburgh Riverhounds to be a goalkeeper coach in their academy (starting 3-5-17) . I have worked with adult goalkeepers individually, including one that has been a professional in Europe for 10 years now. During my college career, I was often asked to run/plan goalkeeper sessions myself. By shadowing some of the greatest keepers in the world, I've learned not only how to act and what to do in the games but also how to behave off the field. Understanding the beautiful game well also helped me become a head coach of CMU's club team with whom I've had a great success winning the conference and the group stage at the regional tournament. During my coaching career, I emphasized the importance of "active rest". It is crucial for goalkeepers to be good playing with their feet, and if they are, then it's easier to focus on actual goalkeeping in practice. For many keepers in the US, this was a major problem. During training, I have had to incorporate a great amount of time just to get their first touch and distribution of the ball better. My main ideology is: Prevent any possible threats in front of the goal by superb organization of your defense through communicating as a leader! No matter how great of a goalkeeper you are, there is always a way to score on you.

I believe the goalkeeper has to be complete and versatile. If you can't play with your feet, we'll work on your ball control. I also give great emphasis on the mental part, knowing how to stay focused throughout the game and act with confidence. Great goalkeepers are great leaders and give security to the team. This is why things such as charisma have to be taken into consideration. Foundation and the right technique are key to being successful long term and that is what separates an average goalkeeper from a great one. I believe everything is about knowing how to position yourself and anticipate the game, along with working hard to automatize your first couple of steps that will make your top 90 save look easy.

Stephanie (CoachUp client)
My daughter just had her first session with Coach Luka. I was immediately impressed! She has had goal keeper training in the past, but that training had always focused only on "traditional" goalie skills. Coach Luka spent a lot of time working on muscle training for her non-prominent side as well as ball handling, etc. He considered what he was teaching her as fundamental, but no coach had ever worked with her in that way. He offered a lot of corrections and constructive criticism, which my daughter loves. She learned so much from just one session and is happily practicing until her next session. Not only is Coach Luka a talented goal keeper, he is very passionate about coaching. Absolutely, 100% happy with my decision to have my Molly work with him!

I am happy to write this recommendation as General Manager at Vermont Voltage Premier Soccer Club. Under my direction Luka worked energetically as camp director, event manager, head goalkeeper coach, and completed a Public Relations and Youth Coordinatior internship. As Luka was very involved with my program, I got to know him well and am confident that he would make a great asset to any employer. Luka balanced all of his tasks with admirable time management and organization, as well as worked avidly and professionally with children of all ages. Off the field, Luka shined in the business and administrative realm, making important contributions to keep things running smoothly. Outside of the office, Luka showed adaptability, diligence, and great communication skills as he lead others by example to seek success while also being respectful to those around you. Luka tackled any assignment given swiftly and with a positive attitude. Along with his outstanding work ethic, Luka also proved to be very driven and ambitious about his future. I have seen him work efficiently as both a student and a teacher and feel positive he possesses qualities most sought-after in the professional world. Bo Vuckovic

I am writing this letter of recommendation for Luka Pauk as the head coach at Illinois Central College Men’s Soccer Coach and the club President of Morton Blaze Soccer Club. Luka has been training kids for Morton Blaze Soccer Club over the last 8 months. The kids absolutely love having Luka train them. Even though the kids are at various levels of soccer ability, Luka is able to treat all the kids equally and strives to make sure that all the kids learn something with every session. The kids ask if Luka will be training them at each session. As I have worked with Luka I have learned that he is a young man of tremendous character and desire to succeed. Luka has worked hard to earn good grades at Illinois Central College and is looking forward to moving on to a 4 year University. He is never late to his training sessions and if he says he is going to do something, he will do whatever it takes in order to accomplish his goals. I would highly recommend Luka to any program as a student/athlete or a coach. He will be a great asset to any program that brings him. Best Regards, Oz Head Coach Men’s Soccer - Illinois Central College President – Morton Blaze Soccer Club
