More About Coach Lauren

I have given private lessons since 2008 and have worked multiple camps and clinics. I coached 1 year at Webster University working with their pitchers. I played pro for 2 seasons in Europe (Vienna, Austria and The Hague Netherlands) where I played with their women's teams and helped coach and run practices for both the women's team as well as the 12-15yo girls team.

I give indoor lessons at 314 Training Academy in Brentwood and Batter Up! in Eureka as well as indoor/outdoor lessons at your location if I have availability (rates subject to change). I work with girls age 5 through college.

I played high school at Helias High School in Jefferson City, MO winning two Class 4 State titles. I broke school records in hitting and pitching and statewide pitching records. I was the 2006 Missouri Gatorade Player of the year, 4 time All-District/All-Region and 3 time All-State. Threw 3 no hitters and a perfect game in the 2003 state playoffs and was featured in Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd in 2/2004. I played select for the Kansas City Peppers and Chicago Bandits, winning the Colorado Fireworks tournament and placing in the top 20 nationally in ASA.

I was a 4-year starter at Northwestern University, where we made it to the WCWS (Womens College World Series) finishing 3rd in the nation in 2007. We won the Big Ten Tournament and Regular Season Championship in 2008. I concluded my career with a 96-38 record, finishing third in school history in total wins and strikeouts (1,130) while becoming Northwestern's all-time leader in starts (136) and complete games (106). Other accolades include: Big Ten Tournament MVP 2008, NFCA/USA Softball Player of the Week 2008, Big Ten Pitcher of the Year 2008. Two time All Big Ten and two time NFCA All-Region and multiple time All Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. Lowes Senior CLASS Award Nominee 2010. After college I went on to play pro in Europe for two seasons helping the Vienna Wanderers claim a European Cup title and being named MVP of the European Cup in 2010.

A first session will consist of an analysis of the player to assess their skill level and go over basic drills and what to expect from future lessons. Typical lessons will go over drills as well as getting in quality repetitions. Older players will also get coached on the mental aspects of the game and game situations. With younger players we will usually play a more game like drill during the lesson to keep it fun and go over basic rules to enrich their understanding of the game. All lessons finish with a recap of what the player needs to work on before the next session. I expect players to practice on their own between sessions. You should plan on having someone to catch, if you can not do this please let me know ahead of time and we can likely make it work without a catcher, although having a catcher will allow more time with the athlete.

Lauren has been a great coach to our daughter. She teaches with a lot of different tools and really holds the girls accountable. Our daughter has increased in accuracy as well as speed. She helped my daughter switch from right to left handed hitting as well. She knows he sport and has done a great job.

My granddaugther, Nicole Wells has had 2 pitching lessons from Coach Lauren. Nicole has not had any formal training before before attending lessons with Coach Lauren. In her last game, Nicole pitched a 5 inning complete game giving up only 3 hits. We are all excited and happy for her success after only 2 sessions with Coach Lauren. Nicole really likes Coach Lauren and is having a lot of fun.

Coach Lauren is great. My 14 year old daughter has had two sessions with her to work on her pitching and we've seen huge improvements in that short time. Coach Lauren is able to pick out the little things that she needs to fix/tweak and they make all the difference in her pitching. Coach Lauren does such a great job with my daughters! She is patient and notices all the little details.
