More About Coach Laurelle

I have extensive experience coaching and hosting personal training sessions for primary school children. I coached 6th-8th grade girls soccer for 2+ years at Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences, this is where I was really able to learn professional coaching skills that made me well equipped to manage my own team.

I work with all ages but my typical age range that I coach is between ages 4-13

I have over 23 years of soccer experience. I started playing soccer when I was 3 years old. It became clear to both myself and my parents that I was passionate about the sport and would continue playing. I played for Emerald City P3 but quickly realized that I needed to play for a club that was more challenging. I then switched club teams and played for FC United which was currently ranked the #3 team in Washington State.

In addition to my club team, I played varsity soccer throughout high school and was recognized by several newspapers for leading my team in goals, assists, and fouls- I was quite aggressive! I was also named to the All Westco team as well as the Allstar team for three consecutive years.

As if playing on two teams wasn't enough, I also played on a tournament team that traveled extensively throughout the U.S. I received several scholarship offers from great schools around the country: Hawaii University, University of South Carolina, Ithica, Evergreen State College, Georgia State, FSU- to name a few but I ultimately turned them down as I wanted to take my academics seriously and pursue other interests.

A typically session with me would focus a lot on basics, fundamentals, and technical ability. I try to incorporate a mixed variety of drills to keep the kids entertained and focus. The biggest thing I have learned from my soccer career has been that coached NEED to keep practices light so that the fun is still present. A lot of coaches take lessons a bit too seriously and it not only discourages the kids but also turns their passion into a job. The main reason I decided to stop playing soccer was because it became my job and at that point, I did not enjoy it as much!
