More About Coach Klarissa

I am in my third year coaching track and field, spent two years at the high school level and am now coaching at a DIII University. I'm a certified NASM (National Academy of Sports Training) Personal Trainer, and have spent time as an intern with ADAPT Training Centers where I gained much education on proper and functional training methods that allow athletes to take their game to the next level, truly maximizing potential. In that time I assisted in training new, competitive, and college level athletes.

I grew up a very athletic and competitive individual. I recently finished my years as a Track & Field athlete at the University of Washington, specializing in the pole vault. Throughout high school I seriously pursued basketball and volleyball and oddly enough along the way became an All-American Cheerleader.

My area of expertise is Speed and Agility Training. I always begin with a dynamic warm up, moving into a workout specifically targeted to improve the weaknesses and imbalances of the individual athlete. Rather than just focusing on footwork I will target the specific muscle group that is over or under activated across then entire body to allow the athlete to make lasting improvements and noticeable differences in performance. It will be generally high intensity but always dependent on the individuals abilities and goals. Many athletes struggle cutting to the left. This is not just because its not their dominant leg but rather because in being so, it has been neglected. So many times just cutting to the right, favoring one leg over the other has long term affects on the muscle activation, the unused muscles can not respond as quickly or efficiently when fired. So what happens when you reteach those muscles to be as fast and efficient as they are designed? Not only will cutting to the left be so naturally fast, but also consider how much faster that will allow you to be on the straight away. All around your athleticism will be taken to the next level, coordination, stability, agility, strength and power will be improved.
