More About Coach Kelsey

Entering my 8th season with the New England Diamond Gems club softball organization, I have worked with the 10u, 14u, 16u, and 18u groups over the years and am now going for the cycle at 12U for the upcoming season. I began my coaching career in high school, coaching 8u for Dover New Hampshire’s recreational league. I'm currently the 10u-12u-14u coordinator for our organization, and actively work with all three teams in the off season. I spent the last 4 years at 18u, working on getting my athletes recruited to the colleges that were a good fit for them.

In January 2023, I was named Head Coach of Ipswich High School Varsity Softball program. In my time there, we have doubled the number of athletes in our program and were able to bring back the JV softball program (which has been missing for the school for 6-7 years).

I have a passion for working with athletes in the realm of pitching, hitting, and fielding. I truly believe in meeting athletes where they are at and making a connection with them, to let them know that lessons are a safe place to experience failure, and how to come back from setbacks.

I was fortunate to have been recruited to play for Southern Vermont College in 2017 as a LHP, and played until the school shut down in 2019. I played for the NH Comets club organization growing up, and will return to the field in a Diamond Gems uniform this summer playing 18+.

Pitching sessions: We always walk through our routine warm up, then go through 1-2 drills based on the area/skill we are looking to improve that day. I'm huge on getting my pitchers to have an intense drive off the mound, and we work that in to many of our sessions, along with chipping away at the goals that my pitchers have individually.
Hitting: I'm a big believer in tee work, and feeling how our body moves. You ask 10 different people how to hit, and you'll get 10 different answers. I encourage my athletes to look for the similarities in what coaches are telling them, ask questions, and have an open mind.
Fielding: With younger athletes/those who are new to the sport, I'm big on making them feel confident and celebrating the little things, like looking athletic before the ball is hit, and charging the ball. With older athletes, I'm pushing them to be quickier and looser with their movements.

Client Reviews

I'm so glad to work with Coach Kelsey! She gave me lots of super helpful tips in just our first lesson, and just a few minutes in she had my swing feeling far more natural. She's outstanding, and I highly recommend her for kids or adults!

Coach Kelsey greeted us at our first session with excitement and engergy that was contagious and carried into the the coaching session. My daughter enjoyed the lesson and we are looking forward to many more!

Excellent instruction, and Kelsey’s enthusiasm is fantastic!

Coach Kelsey is absolutely amazing! She has been my softball coach for the past seven years, and has taught me so much. She’s super approachable and easy to talk to, she’s very knowledgeable about softball, and her coaching style makes softball so much more fun. As a former player, i would recommend coach Kelsey to everyone!
