More About Coach Katie
I taught dance and gymnastics lessons for 5 years and have 4 years of experience as a personal trainer. I continued my love of coaching when I learned to box and I have helped coach the Cincinnati High School Boxing team for the past 5 years. I was the president of The University of Cincinnati Boxing Club for 3 years. Since graduating UC I have been an assistant coach for the team for about a year.
I typically work with young adults, high school and college-aged students, however, I have worked with children as young as 8 and as old as 70. I have clients that actively compete in USA boxing bouts and tournaments, as well as clients who want to learn boxing for fitness and fun. I am an ISSA certified personal trainer and I carry a current USA Boxing fighter passbook, as well as a coaching passbook.

I have traveled all over the U.S. for various matches and tournaments. California, Michigan, New York, Kentucky, Florida and Missouri are just a few examples of the places boxing has taken me!
In general, I begin with a 'boxing warm-up' (jump rope, shadow boxing and bag work) and/or footwork drills. After this I will hold focus mitts and work on technique and/or cardio/stamina. The rest of the session may consist of work on the double-end bag, slip bag, speed bag, heavy bag and/or sparring. It is hard to be specific because the entirety of the session is completely customized to the client's needs and what they want to get out of training. I coach individuals in boxing for fitness, competition or to better their skills in their current sport.

I have been seeing Katie for about 4 months now and I absolutely love going to see her! Before going to see her I had never been the athletic type, and now I have muscles I never knew I could have! It's been awesome seeing my body change in such a positive way. She works so well to my physical needs and capabilities, while still encouraging me to push myself further. When I train with her I do variety of workouts focusing on arms, legs, core and whole body circuits. Exercises range from squats, lunges, curls, push ups, to flipping tires, crunches in the tire, and working with large ropes. I also chose to do kickboxing with her and I definitely recommend it! At first it was a little scary, but now I look forward to it especially when I'm feeling stressed! Working out with her has been so empowering to me and has given me so much confidence in my everyday life!
