More About Coach Kacee

I am currently the Assistant Softball Coach at Queens College in Flushing, New York. I also run group clinics for the Sudden Impact 18U organization out of Deer Park, New York and give private lessons in Queens and Long Island. During Summer of 2012, I was the assistant coach for the Jets Gold 18U travel team out of Southern California. Over the 5 years I played at St. John's University, I helped out on over 20 softball clinics for all ages.

I played four years of Division I softball at St. John’s University as a catcher and third baseman. My athletic achievements include a BIG EAST CONFERENCE best .404 batting average (2010), NFCA Division I All-Great Lakes Region Second Team (2010), All BIG EAST CONFERENCE second team (2010), BIG EAST CONFERENCE Player of the Year (2012), All BIG EAST CONFERENCE first team (2012), NFCA Division I All-Great Lakes Region Second Team (2012), NFCA Louisville Slugger Division I Player of the Week and ECAC Division I Hitter of the Week (April 30, 2012). I also set new St. John's career records in home runs (42), RBI’s (154), and walks (84). I am currently a rostered alternate player for the NY/NJ National Pro Fastpitch Comets.

Hitting:
During a normal 1-on-1 offensive coaching session I would prefer the athlete arrive a few minutes early on their own to run and stretch as they please so their allotted lesson time isn't cut into. Once they are stretched and warm I will begin with basic tee work to warm up their swing and move onto various mechanical and specialty drills. If their is enough time remaining in the session, I will end with front toss so the player may swing in a more realistic way rather than off tee with a stationary ball.

Defense:
During a normal 1-on-1 defensive coaching session I would prefer the athlete arrive a few minutes early on their own to run and stretch as they please so their allotted lesson time isn't cut into. Once they are stretched and warm I will begin with"everyday" skill work essential to improving their basic mechanics. During each session with the athlete, I will work on a specific skill and the mechanics to accompany it. Depending on how well they perform the skill I will either move onto a new one or stay working on that one further.
