More About Coach Jordan

I have played soccer competitively and non-competitively for the past 18 years (elementary school through college). I have primarily played forward and midfield positions but I have also played some defense. Previously, before an injury, I played in the Golden Gate Women's Soccer League (GGWSL) for Daruma (Division 2) and Adelante (Division 2); we reached 2nd place in our division in 2014. I intend to return in the Spring.

I am the former coach of an East Bay Soccer League Under-12 Boys team. I also led my middle school team at Bentley School (Oakland, CA) to an undefeated soccer season, gaining 1st place in the MSSL in 2014.

I enjoy learning about a young athlete's current skills in the sport then work from there to hone in on the position(s) that would best suit them. I believe in helping children become the best athletes they can be, while nurturing their growth in the sport.

In general, I work on skill development including: dribbling, passing, shooting, moves (i.e. chop, cross-over, scissors, Cryuff turn, etc.), keep away, 1-on-1 (offense/defense), etc. I am always open for feedback, especially in regard to what a child would like to work on and ensuring that nothing feels too challenging or out of range to achieve.

I do not believe in aggressive teaching tactics unless the parent believes it is necessary to administer (i.e. based on child's discipline level). I am extremely thorough in my lessons and children as well as parents find it easy to communicate with me (i.e. giving feedback, expressing any concerns, etc.). Overall, even if the goal is to prepare the child for competitive or non-competitive play it is important for them to have fun and enjoy the sport.

I start my session by speaking with the parent to go over their needs for the child and then ask the child what they feel they need help with. I find that it is best to get both perspectives in order to most effectively help the athlete improve.

Then, we move on to a brief warm up that includes running, dribbling and a few stretches while preparing the athlete for what to expect during the hour long session.

Next, we work on technical skills in order to see what the client already knows and to identify what they need to work on. This typically includes offensive and defensive techniques, trapping the ball (feet, thigh, shoulder), as well as accurate passing. I also try to work in a few conditioning exercises that allow the athlete to pace themselves without getting too tired.

Finally, the athlete will do a lap to cool down, help collect cones or balls and stretch. I end with a short debriefing on what was working, what needs improvement and how to stay on top in the game.

Great coach!

So far my daughter has had one session with Coach J. But I saw progress from the beginning to end of that session in my daughter's skills and more importantly, she had fun! My daughter has never played soccer other than in PE, and she has signed up for AYSO. She is apprehensive because she feels like she is several years behind everyone else in experience, so she wanted some individual coaching before the season starts. Coach J's gentle but firm demeanor seems to be a perfect fit so far.

Julia had a good rapport with Coach Jordan immediately and she did an excellent low-key job of conveying the principles of offensive soccer and good training techniques. A first-rate coach whom we will continue to see!

My daughter has done 3 sessions with Coach Jordan and the results have been great. Coach Jordan comes prepared to the sessions with a good plan. She quickly identifies what my daughter needs to work on and explains it in a way that makes sense to her. Coach Jordan has improved my daughter's skill and best of all her confidence on the ball. Coach Jordan is a great communicator and shows patience with her students, she clearly knows the game of soccer and has incredible skill teaching kids. Coach Jordan's feedback after sessions are thorough and offer great tips to work on between sessions. My daughter looks forward to working with coach and will be booking more sessions and plan on having Coach Jordan a long term part of her training program.

Coach Jordan has been great for my son. Coach Jordan is a knowledgeable and skilled soccer athlete. Additionally, Coach Jordan comes prepared with equipment and a plan specifically focused on my son's skill level, needs and developmentally age. The cherry on top is that my son really enjoys working with Coach Jordan. Your child is guaranteed to improve by working with Coach Jordan.

My U13 daughter has had 2 sessions so far with Coach Jordan and they've been great. Nice disposition and knows her stuff. Good technical advice and our daughter has enjoyed the two trainings.

Coach Jordan is super approachable and cerebral. We were looking for a coach that can really explain to our daughter what is missing from her game. The coach also had to be able to connect the dots once she helped find what's missing. Jordan did all this so quickly and made our our daughter even more excited about soccer- thanks Jordan!

When I was initially looking for coaches for my 8 year old daughter on this site, none of the profiles really caught my eye until I saw Jordan’s. I felt that her profile already answered pretty much all of the questions that I had. What I really liked (and what made me decide book with her) was that her session plan was more informative than the other coaches on this site. I booked a couple sessions to see how things would go, and Jordan exceeded our expectations.

Jordan has a calm, cool demeanor and made the whole process go very smoothly for us. We also live a good distance away from each other but managed to find a location that works for the both of us. She listens well when I express my concerns and needs for my daughter and tailors the lesson plan to address those areas. Since my daughter has started training with Jordan, I have noticed a marked increase in her confidence and skill as a whole. One thing that I did not expect, but am very grateful for are the e-mails that Jordan sends after the session has concluded. These e-mails are basically a recap of what happened during the session – things like new areas the parent/child wanted to work on, what drills were done, and Jordan’s assessment of how my child was progressing in different areas. This information is invaluable to me since I usually have my other child tagging along and cannot devote my full attention to the session.

Overall, I would highly recommend Jordan as she is easy to get along with, identifies and customizes each session to improve areas that she sees could use improvement, and encourage as well as listen to parent feedback.

Hi Jordan, Just wanted to let you know Maddox had a great first practice (despite his dad being the assistant coach). You have helped him a lot and your positive energy has been very influential; he is just so much more confident and therefore happy and "in to it". As a parent it is so awesome to see . Thanks and see you soon.
