More About Coach Jordan

I have coached many different aged athletes that compete at various levels of competition. I have coached private sessions with high school aged players that I already knew. I have also worked at Ellicott City Soccer Club, where I have coached youth soccer players from age 6-18. While with Ellicott City Soccer Club, I even had the opportunity to chaperone and coach a team that traveled to Sweden for a big youth tournament. Additionally, I have coached at Coerver United soccer camps previously, where I mainly trained kids aged 10-14. Lastly, I have coached potential Division I soccer players who are juniors and seniors in high school at UMBC ID camps. I enjoy and am open to coaching kids of all ages!

I attended high school at Mount Saint Joseph, where I was a captain and also earned all-MIAA and all-state honors. In college, I attended school and played soccer at the Division I level at UMBC (University of Maryland-Baltimore County). I was on the UMBC men's soccer team for six years and was the team captain for the last four of those years. I earned America East All-Rookie Team (2018) and America East All-Tournament Team (2023). Throughout my career at UMBC, I started in 69 games and appeared in 72, despite missing one full season due to injury and having an altered season due to COVID. I also was voted the "Unsung Hero" of my team by the players multiple times. Additionally, I have competed at the semi-pro level, playing with Christos FC in the USL2 League.

I believe that the most important thing for any youth player to develop is to get as many touches on the ball as possible. The more repetition a player gets touching, dribbling, passing, and shooting the ball, the more complete of a player they become. To make this happen, I will train players using numerous drills that puts them in different situations, so they can get comfortable with the ball at their feet in many different ways. Overall, players can expect to get lots of touches on the ball so that it will become second nature when they have the ball at their feet during practices or games with their team. The majority of the time I do not add in fitness at the end of a training session, because the player will get their work in through the drills that we do during the session. This is important, because having to play soccer with the ball at your feet while being fatigued will only make players better and also will raise their fitness levels. I have found that this has a better impact on player's fitness levels, as opposed to simply running after training without the ball. Occasionally, I may end a session off with some sprints or core work if it is requested or if I feel it is necessary.
