More About Coach Joaquin

I started coaching baseball at the age of 24. Then i also coached amateur boxing for 7 years and martial arts for 28 years. I owned my own MMA gym for 5 years. I've been coaching fast pitch softball for a little over 10 years now. Travel Ball from 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U and also high school softball now for 10 seasons as well. I have been part of a national championship teams, both in A & B division I've coached nearly 1,000 games in my career. I have been around some of the Top coaches in the country, and learned from them.

I played in an All Star game in 1990 or so, in SDSU. the old stadium, before it became Tony Gwynn stadium. as part of a AA all star team for a local San Diego team. Now i know that i don't have the highlights and credentials as some of your coaches, but an athlete can be a super star on the field, playing, and not to good a coach. It takes more than playing experience to coach. I've doing it for a very long time.

Hitting. Fielding. Throwing. Foot work. Conditioning I specialize in defensive workouts and have my own hitting cage. I’ve been taught by 2 of the nations best . I do it all. In a typical hitting session, we'll start off with a Tee, then soft toss, and/or front toss. I also use other hitting tools, such as heavy balls. weighted bats, etc. i rarely, if anything use the pitching machine. i front toss a lot. If the session is an hour long and/or with multiple kids, i will have a couple of stations going on , and we will hit a lot with shaggers We use all the time wisely, hardly anyone is standing around doing nothing. I keep them all busy and interactive. I always have a practice plan. In defense, i start off with the basics, and quickly go into a lot of buckets drills. Numerous drills, concentrating on technique, and fundamentals. Of course, each kid is different and has different needs I look at all that, we work with what is needed most, gradually going into more difficult drills and workouts. I have them throw field properly and i also work with the athlete on breathing and being balanced, as well as relaxed and confident. We must, as coaches, let our kids know that they can do more than they ever imagined. The kid(s) need to trust you with everything they got!

My daughter has been working with coach Joaquin for over 4 years, and absolutely loves to work with him.
Coach Joaquin works with my child's specific needs, not just a cookie cutter approach. He will stop what were doing, in order to fix the problem right away. I love that in his coaching and approach. He definitely knows what he's doing, and you can tell that he really cares about your kid.
Coach Joaquin really knows how to connect with the kids that he works with. He is very knowledgeable on every aspect of softball and my daughters love to work with him. We look forward in going to lessons with him every time. Coach Joaquin also follows up with my daughters to see how they did in their game(s). I think that shows that he really cares about each child he works with.
